Nessie Foundation was founded in 2006 dedicated to facilitating participation in area youth development programs. The foundation provides transportation and registration fees for children under the age of 18 who reside in the Raleigh, North Carolina area.  Our mission is to empower youth to meet tomorrow’s challenges by providing access to positive influences today.

The majority of families served have low to moderate incomes and very limited resources to pay for summer youth programs or provide transportation to the program. The economic barriers coupled with other societal difficulties such as pressure to join gangs negatively influence youth and place them at-risk. The foundation believes outreach programs will help enable the youth and empower them to reach their full potential.

The foundation utilizes the Raleigh Boys & Girls Clubs to meet its youth outreach goals. The Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission is to “enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” The five program categories offered by the clubs are: the arts; character & leadership development; education & career development; health & life skills; and sports, fitness & recreation.

Nessie Foundation strives to offer life skills, leadership, and mentoring opportunities through participation in the Boys & Girls Clubs thereby enabling youth to grow and excel.
